The Father of Radar Research in India and former Director of Electronics and Radar Development Establishment (LRDE) Dr Ramdas P Shenoy passes away. Shenoy , an acclaimed expert in radar, initiated the development of many contemporary types of radar in DRDO which are presently in service with the armed forces . For his outstanding services he was honoured the Padma Shri award by the Government of India in 1987 . After retirement he served as visiting professor at the Indian Institute of Science , Bangalore. He received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the DRDO in 2002.
